Manut Services delivers a compact lifting solution for Delpharm

OVERVIEW AND CHALLENGE

Delpharm, a pharmaceutical manufacturing laboratory and customer of Manut Services, needed a safer and more practical way to remove pump motors for maintenance. The motors have to be dismantled and transported to a maintenance workshop for servicing.

The work area offered very limited space. Part of the facility was located beneath a mezzanine and obstructed by a concrete beam, making the installation of lifting equipment particularly challenging. Heavy components were previously lifted using a rented crane and then transported with a pallet truck. These working conditions were impractical and unergonomic for the maintenance technicians.

Manut Services had already installed Verlinde chain hoists and a Verlinde outdoor gantry crane at the laboratory. Drawing on this experience, the company proposed a customized lifting solution adapted to the confined space.

SOLUTION

Manut Services installed a Verlinde Templier articulated jib crane against a wall. Designed to handle loads from 50 to 350 kg, the compact crane takes up very little space and provides an almost circular working area.

Its two articulated arms, each two metres long, rotate around the concrete beam and allow the dismantled motors to be lowered to ground level. The motors can then be transported to the maintenance workshop using a pallet truck. The jib crane is equipped with a compact Verlinde VHR chain hoist. Once serviced, the motors are returned and reassembled using the jib crane.

For the same application in a second building, Manut Services installed a monorail above the tanks after the structure had been validated through a study by an independent design consultancy. The monorail is equipped with a standard Verlinde VHR 2 manual chain hoist for 250 kg loads.

The monorail transports the dismantled pump motors outside the structure. They are then moved to the maintenance workshop using a pallet truck.
