Hygienic Lifting System for a Food Processing Production Line
Verlinde supplied a fully stainless steel hoist solution meeting food-grade hygiene requirements, enabling continuous operation in a high-care production environment.
Energy industry
CIC ORIO Vefour has integrated a second Verlinde Eurobloc VT3 wire rope hoist onto an existing overhead crane. The installation aimed to facilitate the synchronised lifting of long and fragile tubular parts using dual hooks, in compliance with standard EN 15011, which mandates simultaneous stopping at the end of travel and load summation.

CIC ORIO Vefour, a member of the Verlinde service network and Europont in France, upgraded an existing overhead crane by adding a second 10-ton Verlinde Eurobloc VT3 wire rope hoist to a crane already equipped with the same model. The project was carried out for a leading designer of high-voltage electrical substations that needed to handle long, tubular, fragile and high-value components. Because of their size and shape, these loads must be lifted using two hooks to ensure safe and stable handling while simplifying operations. Using two hooks helped to eliminate complex handling procedures associated with locating the load's center of gravity.
The main challenge was to ensure that both hoists could operate in perfect synchronization while complying with EN 15011 requirements. This meant that the two hoists had to stop simultaneously at their end-of-travel limits and provide load summation functionality, enabling precise, safe and reliable dual-hook lifting. Additionally, the project faced logistical challenges as electric crane was present and the project required staggered working hours to ensure timely completion.

To enable synchronized dual-hook lifting, CIC ORIO Vefour integrated a second 10-ton Verlinde Eurobloc VT3 wire rope hoist onto the existing overhead crane. The VT3 was selected because it offers identical performance characteristics to the hoist already in operation, ensuring consistent and reliable synchronized lifting.
The upgrade involved several technical modifications. The original mechanical overload limiter was replaced with an electronic strain gauge load limiter, while the drive systems were upgraded to allow communication between the two hoists. In addition, a finely adjustable electronic end-of-travel limit switch was installed to support precise operation and compliance with EN 15011 requirements. These modifications enabled the two hoists to operate in synchronization, ensuring simultaneous end-of-travel stopping and load summation.
