Passive sway control

Passive sway control stabilizes the load during trolley and/or bridge travel for smoother, safer handling. It adapts acceleration and deceleration to reach the operator’s requested speed with minimal sway and reduced residual oscillation at stop.

Powered by a mathematical algorithm, it shapes motion ramps based on measured load height (pendulum length).

Shock load prevention

Shock load prevention enables smooth load pick-up: the hoist drive monitors the load and, if it detects a sudden load change (when slack chains/slings become tight), it automatically slows down until the load is fully lifted. Once the load is under control, hoisting speed is no longer limited, preventing shocks to the crane and building.

Slack rope prevention

When lowering a load with a lifting device attached to the hook(s), the operator must pay special attention to the load’s final position.

Slack rope prevention detects when the load has reached its final position and automatically stops the lowering movement. The hoist drive compares a preset load value with the actual lifted load. This prevents the hoist ropes from going slack, helping avoid the lifting device falling or tilting. As a result, the operator can control the lifting device more effectively and reduce the risk of dangerous situations.

Load floating

Load floating keeps the load securely suspended for a predefined time after hoisting stops, without engaging the mechanical brake. Instead, the hoist motor maintains the required holding torque at zero speed, so the brake remains open.

The result: quicker, smoother restarts and more precise load control for the operator, since there’s no brake “grab” to overcome. It also reduces mechanical brake wear by minimizing unnecessary brake applications—helping extend component lifetime and support more efficient operations.

Micro speed

Micro speed makes load control more precise. This function turns large joystick movements on the operator interface into slow and precise load movements. This is especially helpful in final load positioning making the operation safe while protecting the valuable load.

Micro speed feature can be used for all motions (hoist, trolley and bridge). The maximum speed of these movements is scaled with a desired value ranging from 1 to 99%. Typically a value of approximately 30% is selected for limiting the entire speed range.

Inching

Inching feature provides a way to approach a load destination with great accuracy. It allows the crane operator to do small inching movements one by one. When Inching is activated, the movement will stop after it has travelled the set inching distance. This enables very accurate load placement and therefore reduces risk for collision and boosts productivity. Inching can be used for both hoisting and travelling motions.

Hoisting synchronization

If the crane is equipped with two main hoists, there may be need to operate both of them at the same time. When the Hoisting Synchronization mode is in use, both hoists run and stop at the same time in order to keep the load in alignment as when the hoisting was started. This feature works even when the load is not equal on each hook.

This feature is based on the known position of both hooks. During operation the position difference of the hooks is monitored and controlled.

Hoisting synchronization makes load handling simpler, faster and safer.

Anti-collision device

The anti-collision device prevents hoists on same bridge from approaching each other with high speed.

One sensor is needed for each direction. The opposite hoist needs a reflector. The detector is normally connected to the slow down circuit, which allows the cranes to approach each other with low speed.

Rope angle features

Rope angle features help prevent side pull, reducing rope wear and protecting key crane components. They also make operation more intuitive, help minimize operator error, and boost overall productivity.

Three rope angle features are available:

  • Follow Me: move the crane effortlessly by simply guiding the hook by hand for smooth, precise positioning.

  • Hook Centering: at lift start, the system automatically aligns the trolley and bridge to eliminate rope angle, enabling a straight, controlled lift from the ground.

  • Snag Prevention: if the load or hook unintentionally catches on an obstacle during travel, the system stops movement to help prevent damage and improve safety.

ESR

Extended Speed Range is used to obtain a higher speed that the rated speed of the hoisting motor. ESR speed can be used when the load is less than the rated capacity of the hoist. ESR is only used in hoisting movement, not in for traveling.
